Announcements

Can you believe February has already come and gone? It feels like time is flying by, and March is here to keep the momentum going! As we move forward into the spring season, there are plenty of opportunities and tasks to focus on for each grade level.

  • Freshmen & Sophomores: Spring is a time for renewal, and what better way to start fresh than with some spring cleaning? Take some time to organize your binders and study materials. Additionally, remember the importance of advocating for yourself. If you're struggling in any subject, don't hesitate to seek extra help. Our after-school tutoring resources are still available, and the library/office/and teachers welcome students to study during lunch.

  • Juniors: With the SAT scheduled for March 6th, now is the time to start preparing. But beyond standardized testing, consider how you'll spend your summer. It's an excellent opportunity to explore potential careers or participate in programs that enhance your academic or leadership skills. If you're interested in an academic college summer program, don't miss out on the chance to apply for the scholarship that College and Career Options is offering! And if you're unsure where to start, Ms. Tia is here to help guide you through available summer programs and COS summer classes.

  • Seniors: The countdown to graduation continues, but there's still work to be done. Keep pushing forward with scholarship applications, and don't forget to follow up on housing and financial aid verification forms. As you receive your Financial Aid Award Letter, make sure to mark these important dates on your calendar:

    • March & April: Review and correct your FAFSA if needed, and set up an account with web grants to ensure accuracy with your Cal Grant Report (CAR).

    • May: Commit to housing and meal plans, with deposits typically ranging from $50 to $500. Additionally, some colleges may require a Letter of Intent to attend, along with a deposit.

    • June: Expect to receive acceptance or rejection of financial aid offers.

    • June-August: Prepare for orientations, where you and your parents can learn more about your chosen college and register for classes.

  • Seniors, it's crucial to stay focused and avoid falling behind in your coursework. Let's finish strong together!

As we embark on this new month, let's embrace the opportunities it brings and continue striving for success in all our endeavors.
